Happy New Year!

Ok, so I am a little late in this post, since New Year's Day was February 3.  But anyway, last week was an interesting week.  The few days leading up to the New Year were crazy!  Everybody was out and about.  The stores have all of these great sales so everyone buys new appliances, furniture, clothes, and lots of fireworks!  On every corner there was at least one table full of fireworks.  Fireworks were everywhere!

The grocery stores were insane.  It was like the week before Christmas and the day before a snowstorm in America rolled into one crazy week!
On New Year's Eve, Abigail stayed up to watch the fireworks for about an hour.  She loved seeing the show!  She had her own special view from our 6th floor kitchen window.  Yes, she is still wearing Christmas PJ's.
Here is the view from our kitchen window.  Just before midnight, there were literally dozens of fireworks going off all around the city.  We could see them from every window.  There were also lots of firecrackers going off, so it was insanely loud!  Thankfully, the girls slept through it all.
The fireworks lasted all night long and well into the next day.  Then for a few days, our town was dead. Except for the fireworks, it was pretty quiet--no restaurants were open and hardly anyone was walking around.  Everyone was at home celebrating.  We enjoyed the quiet for a few days, and now life is back to normal!
