Way back on September 17, I decided we needed to take a little trip to see the Pacific Ocean. Mayah's birthday was the next day, but in California time she was born at 10:47 am on September 17. I wanted to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the minute we met our Mayah Joy. So we headed down Beach Blvd. toward the ocean.
I am not quite the control freak planner that I once was, so our little trip was not well planned. At 10:47 am, we were still in the car, barely halfway there. Oh well. Happy birth moment, Mayah!
Abigail was a little unsure about this place. We are both holding her hands because we are trying to get her to go closer to the water.
We went closer. A wave came and splashed our feet. Abigail spent the next minute saying, "Hold me!"
Clearly, Mayah needs some sunglasses. She can barely open her eyes outside, even if the sun is not shining. But so far, any attempts to give her sunglasses result in her immediately taking them off.
Abigail finally decided that she loved the beach. Especially the sand. After nearly every step, she would stop and pick up a handful of sand and throw it in the air! This made for a very long walk down to the pier. And for some reason we had decided to walk all the way down the pier and back, but we forgot to get the stroller out of the car. Three hours of walking later, I was exhausted. And grouchy. (Okay, if I'm being honest I was grouchy about an hour in because I knew how exhausted I would be after three hours.) This was one of those outings that was more fun in my imagination than in real life. Maybe I should start being a good planner again...
