Lately

These are just some random things from the past few days, in no particular order:
  • My mind will not quiet down these days! When I try to rest, all I can think of is the hundred other things I could be doing. Isaiah 26:3 has been a good focus verse for me lately: "You keep him in perfect peace who mind is stayed on You, because He trusts in You."
  • The baby has reached the stage where it is obvious to outsiders when she is moving. My stomach constantly shifts from one side to the other as she wiggles and tries to get comfortable.
  • We were lucky when we moved into this apartment that it had been recently built, which meant no bugs! But, ants have recently found their way up to the 6th floor. I spend all of my free time these days killing ants or thinking about killing ants. Now our whole apartment smells like vinegar. It is not fun for me, but it must be done.
  • I have been studying language a lot these days in preparation for my language proficiency test. This means every time I wake up in the middle of the night, I realize I am dreaming about a new story I have memorized. My poor pregnancy brain makes it hard for me to speak coherently in English, so hopefully I can form some coherent sentences during my language test next week.
  • We have been having waffles for dinner a lot these past few weeks. A lot. Like twice a week. Sometimes they even have chocolate chips in them. I have found that making waffles from scratch is one of the easiest meals you could ever make. Just throw flour, sugar, milk, oil, eggs and some other stuff in a bowl, mix it up then pour it in the waffle maker. And in just moments you have a delicious and nutritious dinner! (Maple syrup is nutritious, right?) At least I know we are getting good use out of that waffle maker we bought in Thailand last year.
And now I just realized that we are scheduled to eat dinner in just a few minutes, and I haven't started making anything. Good thing we are having waffles for dinner.
