I'm a little late with this...but Asher is six months old! He celebrated his half birthday by visiting the doctor and having many many shots. Sad day. Actually, I am so thankful for our international clinic here because it meant that this time around, Nick didn't have to give baby shots!
At his check-up, Asher was a little over 18 pounds. These days, he likes playing with toys, looking at himself when we Skype, and scooting all around the bed and the floor. He is not quite sitting up by himself yet, though he does ok for a few seconds at a time.
These days, Asher does not like the fact that he can't crawl. He gets so frustrated on his stomach sometimes and squawks like a wild bird, while throwing back his head and legs simultaneously. Once he managed to get on all fours, but I think the hard floor freaked him out.
He has started eating some solids. He has done ok with this the last few days. Every day he eats with a little bit more enthusiasm. He makes hilarious faces when he is eating. So far he has had apples and bananas.
He loves his sleep. During the day, he naps really well. When he is tired he will go right to sleep while cuddling a blanket. Usually he puts the blanket over his face to sleep. I have to sneak back in later and take it off! The ability to put himself to sleep is something I can take absolutely no credit for. I just enjoy the blessing. Lest you think that I am just bragging about my awesome sleeper, I will also tell you that he still wakes up many many times during the night looking for his pacifier or wanting to eat. I can't have it all, apparently.
Asher continues to live up to the meaning of his name. He is a happy blessing!
