Happy Easter!

We have had lots of rain the last several days, and that means the weather has been a little cool. So I was very excited when I woke up on Easter morning to see the sun shining. After our yummy breakfast of blueberry muffins, we left to celebrate with our friends. We spent some time in Sunday morning "fellowship," then headed outside to enjoy the day together!

Our friends had pre-ordered a ham from a Western restaurant in our provincial capital. But when they went to pick it up, the workers at the restaurant told them, "Oh, we haven't had ham in a few weeks!" They just forgot to mention that when our friends called to order it! So we went with Plan B--chili dogs and buffalo wings! The men grilled while the kids hunted for Easter eggs. We had a great picnic with potato salad, deviled eggs, and lots of yummy food. Abby especially loved the veggie bars I made (crescent rolls topped with a cream cheese/ranch mixture, chopped veggies and shredded cheese--one of Nick's mom's specialities!)

Abby had fun hunting for Easter eggs. She had one of the older girls take her and help her find them. By the end, she had a great system down--her friend would take her near an Easter egg, and then Abby would see it and point to it. I think she ended up with 9 total. Not bad for her first Easter egg hunt (even if she did have a little help!)

Today is a local holiday--Tomb Sweeping Festival. People travel to their ancestors' graves to pay their respects. Usually this involves bringing food and gifts to the grave. It can also involve sacrificing chickens or making some type of offering. The idea is that if you appease the spirit of your ancestor, you will have good fortune in this next year because your ancestor will be looking out for you. Praise Him who has risen from the dead and has given us hope after this life! Lift up those here who do not yet know the hope of His resurrection.
