Across the River and back again

When my mom was here, we drove downtown and took the ferry across the river to a small town/village.  Riding the ferry was, in itself, a fun experience!  Of course we had to pay about 40 times the price since we have white skin.  It was still only about $3.  But still.

Mayah loves to eat all the day long.  Her favorite new sentence to say is “I eat cereal all day.”

When we got across the river, we hired some trishaw drivers to give us a tour of the place.  We rode around for about an hour and saw the market, the pagoda, and the neighborhoods.  While we rode around, I had some good conversations with my driver about the One who created him.

Because there was a new moon that day, there was some big hoopla at the pagoda.  It seemed like the entire town was there, listening to the monk speaking.

My driver told me that every home has a small pond in front of it to use for their house.  They can also get water by carrying buckets to this community pump.

We have gotten so used to living in the big city, it felt so nice to be in a rural area.  Although I have to admit, I was happy to get back to my air-conditioned living room at the end of the day!
