Feeding the monkeys

My mom came to visit us a couple of weeks ago, and we had lots of fun exploring the city!  One of our favorites was a place I will call the “Monkey Park.”  It was kind of like a monkey safari.  It only cost $1 to get in, but I think it was definitely worth more than that! (Well, at least $2.)

Before you enter, you buy a big bunch of bananas.

We opted to take the tram tour instead of driving ourselves.  You could feed the monkeys right from the tram.  We could not throw the bananas fast enough!  I think they were starving.  There were lots of cute monkeys hanging onto their mommies’ tummies.  Some of the monkeys jumped to grab the bananas out of our hands.  Good thing we have had our rabies vaccinations!

There were also hippos, deer and elephants.  I think the elephants were sleeping or something, because we didn’t see those.  Maybe next time.  For an extra $1, you can even ride them!

When the safari was over, we still had a handful of bananas, so we walked over to the little zoo and fed them to the monkeys living there.  You could tell they were better-fed, because they didn’t eat the peels like the wild monkeys did!
