Our little Mayah Joy is 8 months old! I feel like I say this every month, but she is growing up so fast. It seems like just yesterday we brought her home from Thailand. I have always heard parents talk about how "it all goes by so quickly," but I am definitely experiencing it now!
I thought I would give you a little summary of Mayah's life these days. About 2 weeks ago, she decided she really liked solid foods. Suddenly she started gobbling down her purees with great enthusiasm. She is eating 2 (sometimes 3) meals a day. So far she has tried apples, bananas, pumpkin, mangoes, carrots, pears and spinach. She has loved them all. I love making homemade baby food! It is super easy and healthy, and it is definitely cheaper. I don't know how much baby food costs in the States, but here it is around $1 per jar. And it is hard to find--you can't just get it at the grocery store!
Mayah hit a major milestone this week when she started crawling. She loves to crawl back and forth on our living room rug, but she doesn't venture too far yet. I think the hard wood floors are a little uncomfortable for her. But she crawls a little farther every day. Soon I'm sure she will be following us around the house.
She is also starting to really enjoy playing independently. Yesterday I was cooking dinner and she played very happily with her toys in another room while I cooked. That was a first!
Now that she is more mobile, she is after everything Abigail is playing with! She loves to snatch things out of Abigail's hands and immediately put them in her mouth. But these days, her most favorite "toys" are anything she is not allowed to play with: TV remotes, cameras, cell phones, and cords. One thing I have noticed is that she already understands the word "no," since she hears us use it with Abigail. Now we just have to get her to obey!
Happy 8 month birthday Mayah!
I'm with you - she is growing SO fast!!!!
